Item Rohingya Crisis: An Analysis on Indian Security Perspective(Central University of Punjab, 2018) Singh, Gurmit; Singh, BawaEthnic conflicts are harmful for the whole societies and with the passage of time if they are not solved they are making a thread for the states. This study has tried to focus on the world’s most persecuted minority Rohingya. They belong to the Muslim community of Myanmar. Oppression and persecution of Rohingya frequently occurs in Rakhine province of Myanmar by her own government. After the independence of Myanmar from colonial rule Rohingya Muslims are faced discriminated nature of different governments of Myanmar. Form the history there is so many events of violence took place. In August 2017, once again has terrible violence commenced by Myanmar’s military forces against Rohingya Muslim. From the past they are deprived from their own citizenship, rights, education, home, jobs and even food. They have fled Myanmar to Bangladesh and looking asylum in some other neighboring countries. As far as India’s concern, it came suddenly in limelight because government is planning to deport 40, 0000 Rohingyas settled in Jammu and Kashmir, Delhi and other state to Myanmar. Because of potential Security threat and considering some additional things such as Economic burden, demographic misbalance, unemployment and over populated country like India has not directly offered shelter and asylum to these persecuted ethnic people. But it is comprehensible that if India would takeany strong position in favor of Rohingyas can affect relations between two sides. India has been taking its steps very carefully. India is offering huge financial assistance and stuffs of basic necessities to Bangladesh on the Humanitarian ground and starting a “operation insanyat” and signed agreement with Bangladesh government. It has also appealed to Myanmar to take certain steps to finish the crisis.Item Politics and ethnic conflict in Bhutan: A nepalese perspective.(Central University of Punjab, 2017) Singh, Balinder; Singh, BawaDriglam-Nam-Za, Gross National Happiness Bhutan is one of the most contemporary additions to the world's democracies. For over a century the nation had been run by kings of the Wangchuck dynasty. But, in 2001, a fundamental change was announced by the fourth king. Bhutanese society is multi-ethnic, being composed of several distinct communities whose differences rest on ethnicity, profession, social structure, beliefs, and values. The people consist of so-called indigenous groups as well as immigrants from neighbouring countries, namely Nepal, India, Myanmar (Burma) and Tibet (China). The Bhutanese people (Ngalong) have been imposing their own culture as the core value of the nation and also dominate the socioeconomic and political elite and decision-making institutions of the country. The King's family belongs to this ethnic group. Lhotshampa, an ethnic group of Nepalese origin, had been migrated to Bhutan since the 19th century. These people have been practising the Hinduism. This ethnic group has been facing discrimination from Bhutan's ruling class for decades. The ethnic crisis has been constitutionalized given the adoption of discriminatory policies such as one nation one people policy, one language policy, Citizenship Act (1985), assimilation of the culture, depriving of socio-economic opportunities for Lhotshampa ethnic group. The policy promoted the ruling class's language and religion Lamaistic Buddhism favouring the Ngalong Drukpa ethnic group over the ethnic group in question. As a result, the tension has risen between the native and ethnic groups led to a Bhutanese ethnic crisis. It left indelible imprints on the Bhutan-Nepal relations. Later on, these two countries engaged in diplomatic engagements to sort out the ethnic crisis. Now the current status of the Lhotshampa refugee has been sorted out. However, a small number of refugees are still a bone of contention between both the countries.
