Depictions of the Conflict between Tradition and Modernity in the Select Novels of O. Chandumenon and Lalithambika Antharjanam

Abstract

The study undertaken attempts an analysis of the conflict between tradition and modernity as depicted in O. Chandumenon's Indulekha and Lalithambika Antharjanam's Agnisakshi. Both the texts make a clear demarcation of tradition and modernity, through the characters of different generations and the transition in the belief system and perceptions of the respective generations on various events and occurrences.
